MASC September Club Bulletin
Welcome back to all our members after the Summer Break!!
Firstly, ThankYou to all the poolside volunteers who have kept the Mon & Thurs sessions running through the summer.
Congratulations to all our Year 11,12 & 13’s who have taken GCSE & A Levels this year. Also those who passed college courses & University degrees.
Good Luck to those now moving on to University this year.
Also well done to James Threlfall & Callum Davis who have recently taken their ASA Level 1 Aquatic teaching exams & are awaiting results. James & Callum have now joined our poolside teachers & will be teaching on a regular basis.
Club Championships deadline for entries has been extended to 12th September – NO ENTRIES CAN BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE. There is a list on notice board for volunteers to help on the nights.
Trophies awarded in 2008 need to be returned at the beginning of October in readiness for engraving for this years Presentation Evening on 5th December.
Team Leader Vacancy We are still actively seeking a Head Coach/Team Leader to guide our poolside team. Ideally candidates will have experience of a swimming background with a swim teaching qualification and be willing, with support from the club to progress. Commitment & enthusiasm are vital. If anyone knows anyone who may be suitable & could be interested in the position please ask them to contact a member of the committee – contact details on our website.
League Fixture – Summer League Final 19th September at the Link Centre, Swindon (own transport required). Team list is on the notice board. Please register availability (or non-availability) as soon as possible. This is the final gala so it would be great to have as strong a team as possible competing. Any queries please speak to Dave Pegg – Team Manager.
Committee Vacancies ( se website for detailed Information) There are still vacancies to be filled this year on the committee. Again we must stress that without a fully functioning committee the club cannot continue to run. Anyone able to take on the position of Competition secretary or Membership Secretary or any other available job please contact our Secretary Pete Bayley within 3 weeks prior to AGM to register your interest. AGM to be held November 11th 2009.
Medical issues it is vital that any swimmers using inhalers have them with them, clearly named & fully functioning, on poolside during sessions. Please ensure that the poolside teacher taking your Childs lane is aware of any current medical conditions.
Bernie Nicol Memorial Level 3 Open Meet. Bath Uni 4th 5th & 6th Dec 2009. Details have already been sent out by email for this meet. We hope to send a group of competitors to honour the memory of Bernie, who for many years worked with MASC swimmers. This is a novice level 3 meet held in the 50m pool, so an excellent chance to compete & gain long course times. If you have not already received details please contact Competition Secretary Ian Davis.
